Where to Say "I Do"

Walt Disney World offers happy couples a nondenominational chapel Pavilion that can accommodate up to 300 guests and the ceremony can be easily customized. You can arrive at the Disney Wedding Pavilion in Cinderella's glass coach, vintage Rolls-Royce or incorporate a rose petal cannon burst to announce your arrival.

You can also choose to hold your wedding on the highly recommended Disney Cruise Line Weddings at Sea. You can choose from a number of Disney Islands such as Castaway Cay, The Magic Kingdom Train Station, Pirates of the Caribbean Courtyard, and more to have the wedding ceremony. Enjoy a short reception with champagne and cutting of the cake, then set sail for 3 to 7 nights on the cruise ship.

Unfortunately, some same sex weddings at Disney world is not considered "legal" in Florida, but you can have a commitment ceremony or renew your vows at Walt Disney World.

Are There Any Wedding Packages?

Disney World offers a variety of wedding packages to choose from. You can also add on having a wedding planner to work with, who can greatly help you customize your wedding day. After you have chosen the package you want, you will need to speak with a special events coordinator and schedule a date to tour the pavilion. The packages will offer a number of different features and most will provide a free room for the wedding night at one of the Disney resorts.

Couples should be aware, however, that in order to have their wedding at Disney World, they have to book at least two consecutive nights at one of the Disney resorts located within the park. There are wedding packages that include honeymoon options as well.

Is It Affordable?

Planning your Disney World weddings can be more affordable if you choose to have it during the off season times. This tends to be in March, April, November and December. You will want to book your wedding at least six months in advance and always ask about cheaper quotes for the Disney Wedding packages. When choosing the day to have the wedding ceremony, stick with the weekdays from Monday to Thursday, which often will get you a cheaper price.

Are There Any Requirements for Getting Marriage License?

When you are planning weddings at Disney World, it is often fairly simple to obtain the marriage licenses. For residents of Florida, it will cost $61 and the couple must attend a premarital prep course. For non-Florida residents, it will cost $93.50 for the marriage license. There is no waiting period or blood test required.

What About the Food?

Weddings being held at Disney World are required to purchase food from the resort and there is also a minimum requirement. If you have your wedding prior to 2 pm, then this requirement is slightly lower. Food options range from Pan Seared Mahi Mahi to Beef Strip Loin and even Truffle Mac and Cheese. You can basically find a variety of options just as you would if you held your wedding elsewhere.

Where to Stay for Honeymoon

For your honeymoon stay, there are a number of rooms to choose from, but these are three highly recommend and unique rooms to choose from.

  • Disney Wilderness Lodge Resort. Book your honeymoon in the western-themed Yellowstone suite or the ranch style Yosemite suite. Both rooms offer plenty of space and whirlpool tubs in a beautiful rustic setting. The resort is themed after the prevalent grand hotels of the American northwest frontier. It also has a miniature National Park courtyard on site.

  • Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. You can enjoy an African inspired honeymoon location when you choose this Disney Lodge. With rooms that overlook a wildlife sanctuary, you can view giraffes, gazelle, zebras and more. You can also choose to dine in at one of the four African cuisine, wines and décor.

  • Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Enjoy a relaxing and picturesque stay at this Disney resort and spa. Located closely to white sand beaches and the monorail, you can enjoy a full service spa for couple, afternoon tea, and dining at an award-winning restaurant.
